Expo 2010 Shanghai China (1st May – 31 October) will be a great event to explore the full potential of urban life in the 21st century a significant moment in the discovery of urban centres and the concept of our Planet’s civilization.

For 184 days Shanghai will be the focal point for governments and people from all over the world. As the first the universal exhibition centred on the theme of ‘the city’, Shanghai 2010 will display urban civilisation to the full extent, exchange experiences of urban development, disseminate advanced notions on cities and explore new approaches to human habitat, lifestyle and working conditions in the new century with the view to encouraging and promoting a possible development within different communities.

In the new era, Expo 2010 Shanghai China will contribute to human-centred development, scientific and technological innovation, cultural diversity and winning cooperation for a better future, thus composing a melody with the key notes of highlighting innovation and interaction in the new century. 

Expo Shanghai will be an event of exceptional international gathering with 200 nations and international organisations taking part as well as 70 million visitors from home and abroad, ensuring the widest possible participation in the history of the World Expositions. 

Expo Shanghai’s logo is inspired by the Chinese character which means ‘the world’. The emblem depicts the image of three people – me, you, him/her – a symbol of the family of mankind holding hands, in harmony and happiness. The logo represents the focus of Expo 2010 which is based on ‘understanding, communication, union and cooperation’ going back to the concept that progress is possible when based on human values.
