The 1880s

1889 – Paris, France
In 1889 the fourth International Exhibition was held in Paris, France to celebrate the centenary of the revolution. The Eiffel Tower was erected for the occasion and although built initially as a structure to be pulled down it was soon to become a symbol of the city. There were 62.000 exhibitors and 32 million visitors. Armand Peugeot presented the first steam tricar called Serpollet Peugeot.
