1893 – Chicago, United States

The 400th anniversary of the discovery of America was celebrated with an International Exhibition in Chicago and cost over 31 million dollars, with more than 65.000 exhibitors and 27.500.000 visitors. A pavilion was dedicated to electricity for the first time and was a triumph for Edison. The Exhibition was inaugurated 21st October 1892 but was opened to the public only from 1st May 1893 to 30th October of the same year.
