Rome, 24th June2008 - The Commissioner General of the Government for Expo Shanghai 2010, Beniamino Quintieri, has met with Regional Representatives to try and find a possible collaboration in the exhibition.
The meeting was a positive beginning to the teamwork which will allow us to present all the riches of our regions at Shanghai.

Present at the meeting was Vincenzo Scotti, Undersecretary at the Foreign Office, Gianfranco Caprioli, Director General for the Promotional Exchange at the International Trade Ministry, Umberto Vattani, President of Foreign Trade, Xu Bo, Responsible for foreign participation in Expo 2010 and Tang Heng, First Chancellor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

The Italian Regions will have the vital role of putting on display local quality products which help to give a common identity, show the competition of the national industrial system and the new global scenario. The Commission counts on the contribution and quality of the Regions to present the many different experiences improvement of city life, as the theme of the exhibition requires ‘Better city, Better Life’. In fact, the Italian Pavilion will have products, materials and production processes which will show how our local economy is innovative and dynamic.
The meeting has given rise to a positive exchange of ideas as to how to put on show the wealth of our territory at Shanghai.

Beniamino Quintieri: ‘We intend joining with the regions so that they can help manifest the wealth of our Country and its territory. Shanghai 2010 will be a very visible window: it will also be an important promotional opportunity for Italy in China, which is already the most vast and dynamic world market. The Regions, local authorities and Italian Companies are the main incubator of our productive system and we expect them to help us present the best products of our country'.

Vincenzo Scotti:  'The participation of all the Regions at Shanghai is crucial considering that we are all looking towards 2015. The challenge we will have to face is that of a city which can resolve cultural complexity changing it into wealth’.

Gianfranco Caprioli: ‘An important occasion to open a dialogue regarding Expo 2010 with the Regional representatives, and to use it as a platform for Expo 2015 in Milan. Made in Italy is not a marketing operation, it’s an expression of taste and public spirit which has been able to produce, and knows how to produce but which isn’t the expression of a world that no longer exists, but of excellence in all sectors'.

Umberto Vattani: ‘Today, nowhere more than China poses itself the problem of the need to plan a harmonious city. And if there are two countries that can understand these problems those are Italy and China.
We can and must be the privileged interlocutors for the Chinese so that they can understand that the harmonious city they are aiming at, is our city too’.

Xu Bo: 'Italy, on the other hand, is not only a name, but a brand. For China Italy is a brand of quality and guarantee. Your concept of the more intimate city, your elegance, the care you have for the quality of city life,  full of pleasure, with sports facilities, many, and we are the first, must learn from’.

Tang Heng‘For the Chinese, Italy isn’t only the name of a country it’s a brand name. For China it is a guarantee of quality. Your concept of the more intimate city, your elegance, the care you have for the quality of city life, which is free, full of pleasure, with sports facilities, are matters which many, and we are the first, must learn from’.

Maria Assunta Accili: ‘Expo is the opportunity for Italy to show how it can compete with a globalized world: our participation must show the best of Italy, an Italy which is moving forward'.
